Bubble Bobble is a 2D platform game starring two cute dragons – Bub and Bob – who enter the Cave of Monsters to look for their kidnapped girlfriends.
The caves are filled with enemies out to stop our intrepid scaly heroes. You’d think, being dragons, that Bub and Bob would breathe fiery death at their adversaries, but no. They shoot bubbles at them, which encase enemies, and then jump on top to burst them, collecting the fruit that appears as a result. When all enemies on a level are cleared, you move on to the next one.
The game starts off offering you 15 recipes – examples include miso soup, fried chicken, and Salisbury steak – and by successfully cooking said dishes you access further recipes until you have a whopping 76 in your repertoire. Each is broken down into a series of tasks, with Mama standing over you on the topscreen and offering instruction on each stage.
It’s also possible to practice the tasks before attempting them for real, and you can combine dishes to create for a rounded meal of your choice, too.

Puzzle Bobble, staring the enduring duo of Bub and Bob, is one of the few puzzle games that is not naturally suited for the small portable screen. Despite this, Digital Bridges does a good job of squeezing Taito’s arcade classic Bust-A-Move onto the cell.
The little dinosaurs shoot bubbles upward, getting points by eliminating groups of bubbles by matching three or more of the same color. The game ends when the dropping ceiling of bubbles reaches the bottom of the screen kind of like an upside-down Tetris.
