Enter the location you need—anywhere in the UK—and Yell.com mobile maps will display the result as a pin in the map. If more than one is available, the map will show you all the results so that you can select the relevant option. You can pan across maps and zoom in and out.

Keyword and company name search
Enter a keyword, such as “restaurant” or “pizza”, or a specific company name, such as “Cafe Italiano”. Yell.com mobile maps will search the area and display the results as numbered map pins.

Keyword history and auto-suggest
As well as your keyword history, we’ve added a “most-requested” list. Scroll and select or just start typing to activate auto-suggest, just like when you create a text message. As well as remembering words you’ve previously typed, it will suggest many of the most commonly requested keywords, business names and locations.

Map view with Points of Interest (POIs)
The map scale changes to show you the 9 closest results around the centre of your map. When you press the numbers from 1 to 9, the relevant Point of Interest (POI) slides to the centre of the map and gives you a quick overview, including name, address and phone number. You can also select the “Info” tab for more details.

Result overview
Found what you’re looking for? Now you’ve got a several choices. You can call the number, get directions to or from, send the information to a friend, or save it to your contacts, so you don’t have to search for it again.

Directions to or from POI
A window showing your start point or end point is displayed, depending on whether you have chosen the “Directions to here” link or the “Directions from here” link. Now you just have to enter where you’re coming from or where you’re going to.

Select on map or find location
There are two ways you can select your “to/from” locations. You can pan the map and select a new centrepoint by clicking the cursor to mark it on the map or you can use “Find location”. Your keywords history is shown, with auto-suggest, just like on the “Find business” pop up.

Address disambiguation
When it’s needed, the address disambiguation screen appears and will ask: “Did you mean…?” Now you can choose the right location from a scrollable list. Details on the location can be displayed by pressing the specific key number.

Transport mode
The transport mode screen displays your start and end point and gives you the option to choose “Walking” or “Driving” and the route will be overlaid onto the map. Whether you are on foot or on the road, Yell.com mobile maps shows you the way.

Navigation mode
Your departure point is highlighted and a milestone pop-up is displayed showing the total distance and journey time. You can move forwards and backwards in small steps along the route or jump to the next milestone. As you travel along the route, information milestones will pop up showing the remaining distance and time.
